About Us

Aguipade is a small group of dedicated Christians in the U.S. and in Africa working to improve lives in the small, impoverished nation of Guinea-Bissau in West Africa.

Aguipade was founded by Aidler Simplicio Spencer Gomes, 34, a native of Guinea-Bissau who came to the U.S. in 1998 to further his education.  Spencer’s goal was to return to Guinea-Bissau and help his nation to combat endemic poverty and illiteracy. Aguipade was established in 2000 as a Colorado charitable corporation and is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization.

Aguipade sponsors a primary school and vocational education program in Guinea-Bissau.  We have plans to broaden our educational program with a high school and more job-training programs for adults.  We also are planning a public health program to fight rampant tropical diseases there. Spencer and his team in Guinea-Bissau manage all of these efforts. Long-term plans include sending skilled teams from the U.S. to assist.

Our mission in West Africa is sustained by our faith and commitment.  Our vision is only constrained by sufficient resources to pursue our vision.  If you would like to help, please register for our newsletter or make a donation of school equipment or money.   Dollars go very far in Guinea-Bissau.  All of the money Aguipade receives goes to fund our work in Guinea-Bissau.  All of our talents and equipment are donated.  Out only expenses in the U.S. are for this website and a post office box.
