Music
Music plays an important and central role in most African cultures and Guinea-Bissau is no exception.
Aguipade has a regular music program for elementary students and adults, with classes in guitar, keyboard, drums and recording-editing. The waiting list to get into a class is long and the life of guitar strings is greatly reduced in an equatorial climate. Aguipade sponsors regular community concerts, performed in the dirt streets of Bissau that always attracts a big and festive crowd.
We also have a small recording and mixing studio that shares our generator with the keyboard. Our students make cassette tapes of their music that often is heard being played around Bissau. In the future we hope to post recordings of our students here on our website.
